Profitwyse Advanced Excel & Access Tip Series #3

Excel Dynamic Subtotals for Financial Reporting

In this Advanced Excel Tip #3, we show you a technique we use to create Excel dynamic subtotal financial reports using the SUM and CHOOSE functions. By using this technique, you can easily update your monthly financial reports by simply setting a Defined Name variable (MonthEnd in this example), such as “4” for month-end April reports. We utilize this technique across entire workbooks to simplify the monthly maintenance of complex financial reports.

Gaining a competitive edge, which can be as simple as following a formula, will require some infrastructure and tools.  At Profitwyse, we specialize in implementing these tools around profitability improvement initiatives.  If you are a business owner that is struggling to develop processes that deliver goals, contact us today.
